VALE – Malheur County’s Chief Deputy District Attorney just got a promotion.
Erin Landis, who has served in the district attorney’s office for the past 13 years, was appointed by Oregon Gov. Kate Brown last week to the Malheur County Circuit Court.
Landis will step into the judge slot now held by Patricia Sullivan, who is retiring.
“I am happy and honored to accept the governor’s judicial appointment,” Landis said last week.
Landis has served as a prosecutor for the district attorney’s office and received his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2002.
Landis said the appointment will be a good avenue to continue to help the local community.
“It will help me to not only bring justice to criminal victims but give me an opportunity to work with the civil bars and criminal bars to provide fair and balanced justice in Malheur County,” he said.
Landis will be officially sworn in to the new position July 1.
“Erin Landis is a distinguished public servant who has dedicated his career to serving the people of Malheur County and bringing justice to all Oregonians,” Governor Brown said. “I am grateful for his willingness to continue his public service as a circuit court judge.”
