APPOINTMENT TO OFFICE OF MALHEUR COUNTY CLERK
FOR THE PERIOD OF AUGUST 1, 2017 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2018
The Malheur County Court is now accepting applications from candidates who are interested in an appointment to the office of Malheur County Clerk for the period of August 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS. A candidate is not eligible for appointment to the office of Clerk unless:
• The candidate is a citizen of the United States.
• The candidate is a legal, registered voter (elector) of Oregon.
• The candidate is a resident of Malheur County at least one year prior to appointment.
• The candidate intends to seek election to the office of Malheur County Clerk in order to begin a 4 year elected term in January 2019.
Additional screening requirements are as follows:
• The candidate must have two years office and accounting experience, including experience in office management activities or has two years full-time employment in the office of County Clerk.
• Candidates must be bondable.
• Background checks will be completed.
JOB DUTIES. The Malheur County Clerk must perform the duties set out by state law. The Clerk is responsible for a $318,886 budget and supervision of 3 full time staff members and election workers. The Clerk administrates the County’s public land records and permanent archiving functions; administers and conducts elections for federal, state, county, cities and local districts; Clerk of Board of Property Tax Appeals; Clerk of Probate Court and County Court; issues special licenses and certificates.
SALARY AND BENEFITS. The office of Clerk pays a monthly salary of $5,609.50. This position qualifies for PERS, medical, dental and vision insurance and basic life and AD&D.
