Mary Louise Lammers
April 13, 1939 – Sept. 12, 2017
Mary Louise Lammers was born April 13, 1939, to Leones (Lee) W Richey and Edith L McWilliams Richey. She entered into rest Sept. 12 at her daughter’s home in Caldwell, Idaho.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Valley View Cemetery in Vale, Ore.
Mary spent most of her early years in Juntura except for a brief time she and her mother lived in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended grade school in Juntura and high school in Vale and St Francis Academy in Baker City.
She married Wayne Lammers May 26, 1955. She and Wayne worked hard together on the farm. She learned to irrigate, run a hay buck, and milk cows all while making a loving home and beautiful gardens. She especially loved flowers, growing many kinds, but her favorites were her roses and peonies.
When they sold the dairy in 1997, they moved into Harper. That was as big a town as she could get Dad to move to.
She began working as a relief dorm mom for Harper School and loved all those kids like they were her grandkids. She was able to get her high school diploma from Harper High school in 2001. We were all so proud of her! The senior class insisted she wear cap and gown along with the rest of the class. She even went with them on their senior sneak to Hawaii.
She was able to go to Hawaii again and to Europe for almost three weeks with her granddaughter Shawna. She enjoyed those trips very much.
Mary was an amazing woman. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved to tat, crochet, knit, and do embroidery, needlepoint and leather work. She was good at whatever she set her mind to do.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her beloved brother, Burton Richey.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wayne; daughter Betty (Steve) Warden, son Don Lammers, and daughter Lucia (Danny) Claiborne; eight grandchildren, Shawna Warden, Kyle (Christina) Lammers, Jason (Jazzy) Lammers, Adam Lammers, Daniel (Megan) Claiborne, McKenzie Claiborne, Emily (Tyler) Mitchell, Katie Claborn; two great-grandkids Kellie and Gage Lammers, soon to arrive Brantley Claborn and one due in the spring; sister-in-law Pauline Richey; sister Delores Comyford. She is also survived by her main ally and accomplice in all things fun, Nona and Tim Smith; and close friends Marilyn and Tom Allaire.
The family wishes to thank Andrea and Stephanie from Heart and Homes Hospice for their wonderful care of Mary.
