Young artists spruce up Vale city park

VALE – On June 14, 17 youth and 10 adults took part in Drexel H. Foundation’s annual Art in the Park on Flag Day.

Participants spruced up the city park, painted metal playground equipment, and enjoyed games and a mini-mural art contest.

Participating were Connor Hyde, Caitlyn Hyde, Jacob Hyde, Caleb Voechting, Darin Smith, Adrian Dominguez, Clayton Smith, Kayla Flint, Josh Greenwood, Josh Andersen, Luke Anderson, Sativa Joslin, Maya Joslin, Logan Joslin, Hailey Joslin, Jonathan Gaston, Jon Blair, Kelsey Tolman, Andrew McLaughlin, Sam McLaughlin, Angela Smith, Dale Sanchez, Nick Voechting, George Fuson, Connie Fuson, Sandijean Fuson, and Mike McLaughlin.

First-place trophies went to Sativa Joslin, age 4-10 division; Darin Smith, age 11-14; and Hailey Joslin, ages 15 and up.

The largest trophy went to Kayla Flint, who won Best of Show.

Thanks to donations, each child enjoyed a free lunch and free refreshments and prizes.

Sandijean Fuson, president of the Drexel Foundation also acknowledged banner sponsors Butler & Looney PC and this year’s grant support from several organizations including the US Bank Foundation, NW Health Foundation, James F. & Marion L. Miller, and Century Link Youth Philanthropy program through Vale Middle School students, and support from the Oregon Cultural Trust.
